The aggressive action of the North Sea tides had severely corroded an existing steel sheet pile wall to the extent that its safety had been compromised. With an adjacent building undertaking sensitive welding operations, the removal of the old structure was not a practical proposition. Instead, a new LEROMUR wall was built in front of the piles to a face angle of 15°. Once concrete foundations had been placed, the dry build nature of the structure enabled the tides to wash over the wall as construction proceeded. |
